Guild Rules
Last update: 16/04/2011 – Removal of Progression/Casual raiding split.Simia Infinata, a social-raiding guild, exists to provide mature players of 18 years and older a way to play together in a social and fun environment. We aim to provide both a friendly social environment and a dedicated raiding environment, to cater for players of all varieties.
Conduct
- Show basic respect for all members – never forget that we are all real people.
- Do not bad-mouth people behind their back – where opinions differ we expect people to work such things out in a mature fashion.
- Honesty and good-will is expected at all times.
- Please keep guild chat clean – ’1337 5P34|<’ and ‘lolspeak’ are banned, unless used ironically.
- Remember that not everyone speaks English as a first language – please give people tolerance and the benefit of the doubt.
- Treat other players as you would a member of the guild – you have our name above your head, and your conduct reflects on us all.
- All talk of GearScore or Damage Meters is strongly discouraged, within and outside of raids.
- No begging or ninja-looting will be tolerated, within or outside of the guild.
- Please share your professions freely – charging for materials is okay, but we expect guild members to be accommodated without tips (except in very rare circumstances where recipes are extremely rare and were obtained at the crafter’s own expense)
Membership
- All members must be 18 years old or greater. No exceptions whatsoever.
- Real-life friends and relations of members are always welcome to join. All other applicants must apply via our website.
- All applications will be voted on by guild members over a period of 2 days before a decision is made.
- All new members will serve a probationary period of 1 month.
- Alts are welcome during your probationary period, as long as they are fairly active, however we won’t accomodate bank alts.
- After 1 month of inactivity you will be moved to the inactive rank. After 3 months you will be removed from the guild unless a particular reason has been given beforehand and we know that you will be back. This will apply to both mains and alts.
- All members are expected to read the forums regularly, and stay up to date on any key topics.
Bank Rules
The guild bank exists to assist guild members and to help the guild progress through the game. Members with an authenticator are given privilages to access the guild bank. Members without authenticators are not allowed bank access in order to protect our assets should your account be compromised. Members and alts below level 85 are also not given bank access, as we’ve run out of ranks to use.
- Bank repairs are available for members who have finished their trial period, and are level 85. It is expected that you will only use these funds for repair costs incurred during a guild raid. If you misuse the allowance you will be asked to repay your costs. Continued abuse may result in additional fines or demotion.
- All members are encouraged to freely take any food, flasks etc. that they need from the bank, on the condition they also freely give whatever they have available.
- Members without bank access can contact an officer if they need anything.
If Things Go Wrong
We rely on our members maturity and goodwill to solve most issues. For blatant offences however, people may be fined, demoted or removed from the guild at the discretion of officers. This will always be a policy of last resort, however.
Required Plug-ins & Software
The following add-ons will be required for both levels of raiding.
- Threat Meter: Omen, sThreatMeter2, Simple Threat Meter, MyThreat
- Boss Mods: DeadlyBossMods, BigWigs, Deus Vox Encounters
- Decursive for those classes where it is appropriate (Mage, non-tank Druid, all Healers, etc.)
- EPGP LootMaster, for loot distribution.
All raiders must also run Mumble for voice communications. A setup guide is available on the forums.
Raiding – General
Raiders are expected to know tactics for all appropriate bosses before raid start, however on new bosses the raid leader will also run through the tactics before the first pull. Raiders are also expected to carry enough reagents (including buff / mana food) to last the duration of the raid, and to be fully repaired and ready 10 mins before the raid start time.
Loot will be distributed via the EPGPlootmaster addon, however we do not use the EPGP point system, the addon is just a convenient way of assessing who wants an item. Mains are prioritised over alts, and MS over OS. Beyond this, the addon automatically generates a “roll” for each character to determine the winner.
Joining PUGs for current-level raiding content is strongly discouraged (with the exception of Baradin Hold). We try to run enough raid nights for everyone to attend at some point. Of course, if you are unable to attend raids in a particular week, or if you have a large number of raid-ready alts, it is allowed.
If, during a raid, a wipe is called, it is important that everyone releases and runs back in quickly. The more time we waste doing this, the less time we get to spend on the boss. It is also expected that players will take responsibility for their mistakes, and accept criticism where it is given constructively. This is intended to benefit the player, which will in turn benefit the whole group.
Players are required to listen to voice chat for the entire raid, and to communicate with it whenever possible. Speaking is a lot quicker than typing, and hearing is quicker than reading. Players unable to listen on Mumble will not be allowed to raid.
Raiding – Attendance
If you are signed for a raid it is expected that you will be online and ready for an invite at least 15 minutes before the start. If you need to step down for any reason, please cancel your signup as early as possible, so we have time to plan around this.
If you are signing up for raids we expect you to know how to play and gear your class/spec, and that you have enchanted and gemmed all your current gear, including a belt buckle. You are also expected to have any appropriate reagents and food with you.
We generally have 2 breaks during a raid, being approx. 5 min break every hour, at an appropriate time. Please do not take breaks outside of the announced break times, as this requires the entire group to wait until you get back before we can continue.
Raiding – Group Composition
In general, a 10-man raid group will consist of 2 full-tanks, 2 full-healers, 1 dps/healer, and 5 full-dps. We will attempt to take approximately 2 melee and 4 ranged dps, including hybrid roles, but this can be adjusted depending who is available.
If you have raid-ready alts, we would hope that you are willing to bring any character required to benefit the raid Although we will make every effort to bring your preferred character when you sign up, it may be necessary to ask certain people to bring an alt in order to maintain a balanced group.
Officers
Our officers are all dedicated to serving the players within the guild. We work together to make decisions and to plan for the future, always considering what is best for the group as a whole. An officers duties include monitoring the forums, managing recruitment and applications, leading raids, and generally keeping in touch with the players.
Any member who is through their probationary period can enquire about becoming an officer, however you will most likely only be considered if you have been in guild for a significant amount of time, and you have proven your maturity and willingness to help others.
